Macaria was born in 2009 with the name “Folkentroll” in the Lecce’s area. Their music was “Finntroll style” Folk metal, with speed rhythms and growl vocals. In this early days they played in many gigs in southern Italy, apulian scene. As Folkentroll they produced their first demo named “Jester Of Chaos”, a 5 track EP in which was already noticeable their style characterized by many musical influences.
In 2013 they felt the need of a more complex musical style, so the death metal and symphonic influences in ther music raised and also their name changed in Macaria. The target of the band is to take any influences they need without restrictions of genre and mix it up in their metal style.
In 2015 they entered in the Newstar Rec Studio with Angelo Buccolieri and started recording their first Full-Length “A Strings’ Dramedy”, a concept based on an allegorical social criticism. This album’s lyrics talks about the efforts of a character who tries to understand social structures, but can only perceive them in a completely unusual, almost allucinated way.
In 2016 Macaria signed for Revalve Records and on 7 October 2016 their first album “A Strings’ Dramedy” was released. During the following months the band performed in different live shows where the new full-length songs were played.
In April 2018 the band saw the leaving of singer Lorenzo Manco and bassist Luca De Marco, a decision conveyed by different life and musical choices. From that moment Macaria began to work on new songs with the new official members, Francesco Erroi on bass and Giacomo Albanese on vocals.
In July 2018 the music video of Carnival Of Pigs was published.
